HOW TO FORM A GIRL GANG
Installation of acrylic paint on fabric in university studio space2019
This installation was the beginning of an ongoing project, the very first rendition of the imaginary girl gang Vide Magmas; six characters, each a refracted piece of the artists identity. This installation marks the inception of this project in a three panel comic strip. The panels depict the gang arriving at the idea of their own formation. Each panel is painted on gauzy pink fabric and split across the space as if exploding the canvas, the pink fabric draped walls of the artists studio becoming their background. The suspended panels draw out the event of making and leave behind its traces with their rough crafting and haphazard installation. The space becomes an overaly of the imagined on the physical world, and lets the viewer walk between the gaps in an echoed, refracted, suspension of an idea forming.
