Horror Feminae
Acrylic paint, paint pen
and ink on double sided
paper banner.

My first work of the MFA Horror Feminae
played with separating figure from ground,
contradicted the perspective plane splitting
it across a double sided image, and hanging
it in the centre of the room rather than on
the wall. This project was the culmination
of considering the creation of myth, the
feminine experience, and a questioning of
high and low art forms. The central figure
is a depiction of Pandora, portrayed as a
powerful and godlike figure; the first woman
in Greek mythology who was created as a
‘punishment for man’.
